Gluten Free Tips & Information for Living a Gluten Free Life.
I discovered I have celiac disease in 2006, after my son was diagnosed, and have been on a gluten-free diet ever since. We are on a mission to help make the gluten-free lifestyle as fun and easy as possible. In addition to my work on GlutenFreeGrapvine.com, I also provide counseling and psychotherapy services to others with celiac disease and crohn's disease, among other chronic medical conditions.
California Pizza Kitchen |
, Bridgewater, New Jersey,
California Pizza Kitchen has re-released their gluten free pizza in October, and we finally were able to check it out in the Bridgewater Commons Mall location (400 Commons Way, Bridgewater, NJ). We tried both the Pepperoni and the Margherita. (CPK also offers gluten free Mushroom Pepperoni Sausage and BBQ Chicken pizzas.) The pizza crust was slightly sweet and crispy. Our son really liked the pizza.

Halls Defense NOT Gluten Free |
Halls Defense is not safely gluten free for Celiacs. I called on March 4, 2014, and was told that some of their suppliers use flavorings that they cannot guarantee to be gluten free.

Bareburger on 46th street (between 8th and 9th Avenues) in Manhattan is a saving grace for anyone looking for great gluten-free food while in Midtown for work or entertainment. It also has great atmosphere and excellent service. If you are also looking for organic and vegetarian/vegan options, you're also in luck. But don't be fooled... you're not going to be getting a tasteless alfalfa sprout burger.

Trattoria Bolu |
, Basking Ridge, New Jersey,
Trattoria Bolu is a Mediterranean restaurant with gluten-free pizza, salads and sides. The pizza crust is familiar and from an outside provider of gluten-free pizza crusts. It is, however, always cooked perfectly... crisp without being overcooked. Our son loves the Margherita pizza, and there are several options for those that want to have something with a little more flavor. On our last trip to Bolu, I had the Pizza Bolognese, and it did not disappoint.

Gluten Free Gloriously |
, Stirling, New Jersey,
Gluten-free bakeries have been so wonderful for our family for a number of reasons.
When my son and I were first diagnosed in 2006, there were very few bakeries that produced gluten-free products, let alone were completely gluten free.
It is so great for a child with Celiac Disease, a gluten allergy or gluten intolerance to have a store that is just for them. When my son walks into our local gluten-free bakery, Gluten Free Gloriously, he is so excited to hit the free sample tray and then scout out anything new added since the last time we went there.
